About Collingwood

Collingwood Museum
Collingwood Museum
Collingwood is an exciting community with dual roles. During the week it serves as the business and professional centre between Barrie and Owen Sound. On the weekend it functions as a major tourist and recreation destination for a huge geographic area, including the GTA.

Collingwood had a combined seasonal and resident population of 21,500 in 1999 and is projecting a population of 30,357 by 2021. This is boosted annually by an influx of part-time residents and weekend and seasonal visitors.

Well-publicized large investments by Intrawest in recreational facilities and condominium development translate into increased ancillary development as well as increased long term employment for the Town and surrounding area.

It is anticipated that the proposed redevelopment of the lands owned by Canada Steamship Lines will have a permanent and significant impact on the waterfront. Currently in planning stages, in due course, the redevelopment of this massive property located along the Town's waterfront will increase the community's residential base with the consequent business, recreational and employment opportunities.

Capitalizing on its natural and geographic setting Collingwood provides year round recreation and entertainment whether it's golf, skiing, hiking or a wide assortment of water sports. The Collingwood Horse Show as well as the Collingwood Elvis Festival are just two examples of annual events attended by thousands.
